Built in 1879, the Victorian-style Wyndham Tremont House is located in the Strand Historic District, within walking distance of the 1894 Grand Opera House and approximately one hour from Houston International Airport. This location is also within walking distance of the Strand Street Theater. The hotel is on the trolley car route that runs to the beach and throughout downtown. Once a busy dry-goods warehouse, Tremont House has soaring ceilings, 11-foot windows, and period furnishings. Hotel amenities include the Merchant Prince (full-service restaurant), Toujouse Bar (which hosts afternoon tea) golf privileges, passes to the Galveston Health and Racquet Club, and use of a neighboring pool.
